Floating Opera

In what ways do we see Todd’s descent from a Marxist standpoint into a more full-blown nihilism view?

I understand the Mack’s desire to be more “open” in the bedroom but being sexual liberal and having doubts of whether or not your child is your own or not seems to be a big leap.

For someone that was ready to kill himself, Todd certainly seems very in love with his own sense of humor.

Nobody wants to be so consistently inconsistent! (pg 125)

Mind over matter mentality on pg 100, the only thing holding you back is yourself.

How can Todd make fun of intercourse when he’s been sleeping with his buddy’s wife all these years!? (pg 124)

So Todd explains to us how his relationship broke off with the Macks….and then subsequently started right back up again.  Essentially nothing seems to ever get accomplished in this book! (XVII)

Todd’s view on suicide is definitely more romantic than most, even stating that everyone has to think about it in order to work things out with themselves. (P 168)
